An interior repaint is the quickest way to make a house feel like somewhere else. Same rooms, same layout, same furniture back where it was, and the place still reads as new.

We paint the inside of homes people are living in, and we paint brand new homes, renovations and extensions where nobody has moved in yet. Walls, ceilings, doors, skirting and trim, a single room or the lot.

Interior work is different from exterior work in one obvious way: it happens in the rooms you live in, around the things you own, while you are still using the house. That is worth taking seriously rather than treating as an inconvenience you agreed to when you booked the job.

We protect your home, furnishings and personal items throughout the painting process, from start to finish. It is part of the work rather than a courtesy at the end of it, and it covers the hallway we walk through as much as the room being painted.

What helps most is hearing about the exceptions early. If something is fragile, valuable or simply irreplaceable, point it out while we are quoting. If you would rather move a particular thing yourself, that is a sensible answer and we will plan around it.

The same goes for the way you use the house: if a room has to stay in use, tell us before the job starts rather than on the morning it does.

Interior preparation

Surfaces prepared before painting

Indoors the damage is not weather, it is living.

Scuffs down the hallway, holes where the pictures used to hang, hairline cracks where the house has settled, and the outline of a fitting that came off years ago and was painted around ever since.

New rooms start somewhere else again. Plasterboard that has never been coated behaves differently from a wall carrying five coats already, and the joints and edges are where that difference shows up.

Either way, each surface is made good, primed and prepared before the first coat goes on. Inside, that matters for a reason the outside of the house never has to deal with: you look at these walls from close range, in daylight, every day.

Anything left underneath stays visible from half a metre away for as long as the paint is up.

New rooms are satisfying to paint and unforgiving if they are rushed. There is no old coat to hide behind and every edge is a fresh one, which is why the preparation on a new build is not the quick part of the job people assume it is.

Plenty of people call with half a plan, which is a perfectly good place to begin. Guidance on a painting or decorating project, and on keeping the surfaces right afterwards, is part of what we offer, and that includes the unglamorous strategic part: what the rooms actually need, what order to take them in, and what is worth leaving until next year.

It is advice about the work itself. If you already know what you want, we will quote it as it stands. If you do not, that conversation is better had before the job is booked than halfway through it.

Will you protect my floors and furniture?

Yes. Protecting your home, furnishings and personal items throughout the painting process, start to finish, is something we take seriously — it is part of the job rather than a courtesy.

If there is anything in the room you are particularly worried about, point it out when we quote so we can plan around it.

Can you paint during a renovation?

Yes. Renovations and extensions are a normal part of our work, and painting usually has to fit around other trades rather than having the site to itself.

We can coordinate our part of the job with the rest of the work so the painting happens at the right point, and manage it through from planning to completion.

Can you help me plan the job?

Yes. As well as doing the work, we offer advice and guidance on painting, decorating and surface maintenance projects — recommendations and project planning, so you are not deciding everything on your own.
